We welcome for a second time Valérie Pirlot to Green and Stone for a two-day workshop. Belgian born, Valérie is an exceptional artist who is also a leading light in the British Plein Air movement. She paints vibrant oils in an impressionist style; her particular strength as an experienced tutor is to show you proven techniques to reliably create loose, expressive pictures capturing the essence of the subject, eliminating unnecessary details. She is both generous and clear with her knowledge and inspiring in her execution. Demonstrating every step of the way in her bold style, she will have you working fast and loose, bypassing the thought process. During the two day workshop you will paint two still lives of flowers and two landscapes from a photograph. Valérie will always paint at the same time as you (or just before, as a demo) so all the steps will be very clear for you to follow. If at any point you’d rather watch the demo than paint, that’s fine too.

Valérie uses water mixable oils (from Winsor & Newton Artisan range) but all the techniques are the same as with traditional oils. A full list of materials will be provided once you’ve booked your place. If you have attended the previous workshop by Valérie, the structure and theory will be fairly similar but the painting references will be new.

We anticipate classes to fill up quickly (there was a waiting list for the last workshop) – maximum numbers of 7 people to ensure lots of attention to pupils and space and comfort to work in, so book your deposit to secure your place.
