TUTOR: Mariella Baldwin

VENUE: Moclín, Granada

COURSE DETAILS: Painting plants and insects in detail with the additional opportunity to paint on vellum or gold under the guidance of Mariella Baldwin who has discovered the delight of painting the natural world on vellum and gold, referring to the historical traditions of illumination.  Vellum is a precious material and had the ability to give a precision of detail and an ephemeral glow to watercolours.  Painting on gold metal leaf with casein creates a different sort of glow – as Derek Jarman observed ‘Gold is not a colour, but it nestles up to the colours and shows them off.’  Painting on paper too will be an option if required.
